The Oliver Apex 420 makes the Apex series’ quality construction and European engineering accessible to intermediate club players who are developing their game with intent. It sits below the flagship Apex 920 in the range, with a slightly more forgiving weight and flex profile that suits players who are still refining their swing mechanics and need a racquet that supports development rather than demanding perfection.
At around 130g strung, the Apex 420 has enough mass to generate natural depth without requiring a perfectly timed, full-power swing. This makes it forgiving on shots where preparation is slightly late or the swing isn’t fully committed the frame carries through contact and delivers a playable result where a lighter, stiffer frame might punish the error more severely.
The graphite composite construction is a meaningful step up from aluminium or lower-grade composite frames at the beginner end of the market, delivering a cleaner feel at contact and genuine vibration management that protects the arm over long sessions. Club players who take the sport seriously but aren’t yet competing at county or national level will find the Apex 420 an excellent training companion.
Recommended for improving club players, regular training players, and anyone stepping up from an entry-level squash racquet. Recommended stringing tension: 25-28 lbs.
