Crossblox String Savers are small plastic or rubber inserts that sit at the contact points between main and cross strings in the string bed the locations where the most string wear occurs during play. Every time the ball contacts the string bed, the main strings slide laterally and return, grinding against the cross strings at their intersections. This repetitive micro-movement gradually cuts through the string’s outer fibres, eventually causing premature breakage.
By placing String Savers at these intersection points, the friction between main and cross strings is dramatically reduced the plastic insert acts as a lubricating buffer that allows the strings to slide against the Crossblox material rather than against each other. The result is significantly reduced wear at the high-friction zones, extending the string’s functional lifespan meaningfully before the bed loses tension or breaks.
The benefit is most significant for players using expensive premium strings co-polyesters, Vectran multifilaments, or natural gut where the string investment is high enough that extending lifespan has a clear financial return. A set of String Savers costs a small fraction of a restring and can add a substantial number of sessions to the string’s life.
String Savers also have a mild effect on string feel some players notice a slightly muted, more consistent response with savers installed, as the strings move less independently. This can be a positive or neutral change depending on preference. Available in white; the black version is also stocked. Easy to install with a toothpick or similar tool.
